Octaswitch question - bypass function?

Post  allanhansen on Sun Jan 17, 2010 3:12 pm

Hi Carl Martin,

I am thinking of adding an Octa-Switch to my arsenal to avoid tap-dancing, but there is an issue that I cannot seem to find an answer to on the internet.

Does it have an "All loops bypassed" function or do I have to dedicate a program button for this?

Thanks in advance,

Allan

Octaswitch question - bypass function?

Wouldn't it be a nice addition to a version 2? - It could work like this:

If you have program x selected, just press the same button again to go to bypass mode.

Just a suggestion! - Otherwise it seems like a brilliant product! - I can't wait to try it!

Hi Allan.
Ah there are better ways for that, and much easier, but the Octa was designed to be as useful as possible without adding costs, and that is a balance act in it self.
It is not by any means an expensive switcher, and was made to be simple and straightforward.
If I remember correctly we talked about a bypass, but it required an additional signalpath, so we made it to work like the Combinator instead.
As the research showed, most players always used at least one pedal the whole time.
So we went down that path, it uses a relay for each loop, and has buffer on/off, can run on two 9V batteries if needed, and has 8 loops, good specs for a relativly cheap switcher.
Hope you will enjoy it nevertheless.
Regards Niels
