Combinator II pedal incompatibility?

Post  10 on Fri Jul 30, 2010 6:19 pm

Hi! I'm having some problems using some fx pedals with the combinator.

-When using a MXR dynacomp compressor pedal the volume drops drastically, even with the volume pedal maxed, it isn't enough to match the overal volume.
-When using a Dunlop crybaby I get a really weak sound out of it, the volume and gain drop and it just sounds horrible.. Mad

Both of the pedals sound fine without the combinator. Does this has anything to do with the buffer in it?
What can I do to resolve this? I really don't want to use any pedal without the combinator, especially the crybaby which is a major tone sucker.. that's one of the reasons I bought the combinator in the first place. Neutral

Thanks

It is impedance issues.
Both are oldschool pedals, and those drop in volume when you use it with normal impedance stuff(like Boss and Ibanez pedals)
The wah must go in front before the combinator to work right.
Or it must be modded with an internal buffer, for correcting the impedance issues.
Or get the wah TB'et...if it is possible!
(sorry about using another account, my normal handle is Admin Carl, but we have some difficulties with that one right now.)

Hey!
Thanks for the explanation! That's really a pity...
I've been researching, but I can't distinguish which pedals have the correct impedance to work with the combinator? What should I look for in a pedal, to make sure that it has the right impedance?
Do all the crybabys are manufactured the same way?
I preferred to use the wha with the combinator because I like to keep it always on and then just hit the combinator using the wha all rolled up or down..
Thanks!
